NEW YORK – July 2, 2015 – NBC’s TODAY was once again the number-one morning show last week in the key demo A25-54, beating Good Morning America for five out ten weeks in the 2nd Quarter 2015.  TODAY also won in total viewers last Thursday, marking its 2nddaily total viewer win this year and biggest single-day delivery since Sochi.  TODAY came within just 53k of GMA in the key demo for the 2nd Quarter, cutting the demo gap with GMA by 62% versus Q2’14 and posting its closest margins in more than two years (since Q1’13).  TODAY also cut the total viewer gap with GMA by 24% vs. Q2’14, its closest total viewer margins since 3Q’12.  TODAY remains the number-one morning news program in A18-49 for the season and year.

TODAY averaged 1.625 million A25-54 viewers, +10,000 (+1%) more than GMA and +737,000 (+83%) higher than CBS This Morning

  • TODAY has now won 4 of the last 7 weeks and 5 of the last 10 among A25-54 viewers
  • TODAY’s 1.36 A25-54 rating led GMA by +0.01 and CBS by +0.62

TODAY averaged 1.239 million A18-49 viewers, +13% (+145,000) better than GMA and more than doubling CBS by +109% (+646,000)

  • TODAY scored its biggest A18-49 gap over GMA in five weeks
  • TODAY delivered a 0.98 A18-49 rating, +0.12 more than GMA and +0.51 ahead of CBS

TODAY averaged 4.384 million total viewers, outperforming CBS by +40% (+1.244 million)

  • TODAY posted its closest non-holiday week margin versus GMA since the Sochi Olympics
  • TODAY also topped CBS by its widest total viewer margin in 5 weeks

TODAY won Thursday by +133,000 total viewers, +133,000 A25-54 viewers, and +352,000 A18-49 viewers

  • TODAY delivered its biggest single-day total viewer win since the Sochi Olympics (2/21/2014) and biggest A18-49 margin in just over a month (5/21/2015)
  • In calendar 2015, TODAY has now won 34 broadcast days among A25-54 viewers

TODAY’s total viewer margin with GMA was 58% narrower week-to-week and 46% closer than 2Q’15-to-date levels

The total viewer gap between TODAY and GMA was 53% closer year-over-year

Versus the same week last season, TODAY was up +2% in total viewers and +1% among A25-54 viewers

TODAY is the #1 morning news program among A18-49 viewers this season

QUARTER 2, 2015

TODAY finished #1 with 1.343 million A18-49 viewers, leading GMA by +6% (+79,000) and CBS by +88% (+629,000)

  • TODAY has now been #1 among A18-49 viewers for 82 of the last 83 quarters

TODAY averaged 1.752 million A25-54 viewers, +74% (+743,000) more than CBS

  • TODAY trailed GMA by just -53,000 A25-54 viewers, its narrowest margin in any quarter since 1Q’13 and its best 2Q gap since 2Q’12 (a TODAY win)
  • TODAY closed the A25-5 gap with GMA by 62% compared to 2Q’14

TODAY averaged 4.623 million total viewers, +32% (+1.126 million) ahead of CBS

  • TODAY trailed GMA by -482,000 total viewers, its narrowest gap with GMA in any quarter since 3Q’12

TODAY.COM HIGHLIGHTS:

For the 12th straight month, Today.com reached more consumers than GMA on Yahoo.  Almost 30 million unique visitors turned to Today.com in May for exclusive interviews and the latest lifestyle, parenting and entertainment news, according to recent data from comScore.  For 20 consecutive months (27 out of the last 28), Today.com has reached more mobile consumers than GMA on Yahoo.

Additionally, Today.com’s mobile unique visitors have grown +92% over the last 12 months while GMA on Yahoo has declined -20% for the same period. As such, Today.com has gone from parity in mobile unique visitors in September 2013 to nearly 3x GMA on Yahoo’s mobile visitor number in May 2015.
