Sen. Cruz Will Be First Candidate Interview with Facebook, Airing This Sunday

JULY 1, 2015 – NBC’s “Meet the Press” and Facebook are joining forces to bring the public and presidential candidates closer together as a part of “Meet the Candidates,” a series of 2016 interviews officially beginning this Sunday.

The series, conducted by “Meet the Press” moderator and NBC News political director Chuck Todd, will feature candidate interviews with questions from Facebook users, Facebook-native videos and Facebook question-and-answer sessions with Todd.

This Friday, Todd will sit down with presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for the first interview of the partnership, airing this Sunday on “Meet the Press.”

NBC News will also have access to in-depth Facebook data to help shape its candidate interviews.

Todd has interviewed several presidential candidates already this year, including Carly Fiorina, former Hewlett-Packard CEO; Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC); former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR); Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA); Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY); and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
