Lester Holt, Savannah Guthrie to anchor live network coverage from Washington

NBCNews.com to feature real-time coverage of president’s speech and response

March 1, 2024 — NBC News will feature extensive live coverage and programming next Thursday of President Joe Biden’s third State of the Union Address to Congress and the Republican Party’s official response. 

Coverage will be featured across NBC News’ broadcast, streaming and digital platforms throughout the evening. 

LESTER HOLT, SAVANNAH GUTHRIE TO ANCHOR LIVE COVERAGE FROM WASHINGTON 

• NBC Nightly News Anchor Lester Holt and TODAY co-anchor and NBC News chief legal correspondent Savannah Guthrie will anchor special coverage beginning at 9 p.m. on Thursday on NBC.
• Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker will join Holt and Guthrie on set for live analysis. 
• Holt will anchor a special edition of NBC Nightly News live from Washington on Thursday night ahead of the address. 
• NBC News correspondents, reporters and contributors will provide live updates and analysis throughout the broadcast. Capitol Hill correspondent Ryan Nobles will report from the House chamber while chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander and senior White House correspondent Gabe Gutierrez report from the White House.

HALLIE JACKSON, TOM LLAMAS KICK OFF STREAMING COVERAGE ON NBC NEWS NOW STARTING AT 8 P.M.

• At 8 p.m. ET, Top Story anchor Tom Llamas and Hallie Jackson NOW anchor and NBC News senior Washington correspondent Hallie Jackson will anchor special early coverage ahead of Biden’s speech on NBC News NOW. 
• NBC News NOW will simulcast NBC News’ special report during the address, anchored by Holt and Guthrie. 
• Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker will anchor live post-speech analysis on NBC News NOW beginning at 11 p.m.
• Llamas will anchor a special edition of Top Story from Washington, D.C. ahead of the evening’s special coverage.
