NEW YORK – November 1, 2016 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show for the month of October topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the key demo A25-54 by a whopping +225,000 viewers.  TODAY has now won the demo for 14 consecutive months posting its largest October demo win over GMA in five years (since 2011), and tripling the demo gap versus last year.  TODAY also cut the total viewer gap with GMA by 63% versus last October.

TODAY won the week of October 24 in the key demo beating GMA by +157,000 viewers.  Versus last year, TODAY more than doubled its A25-54 lead over GMA by 107% (+157,000 vs. +76,000 prior year).   GMA was down double digits (10%) in the demo versus the same week last year.

*Please note: As of 12/28/15, Nielsen national ratings are based on an expanded sample known as “NPX,” which effectively doubles the size of the Nielsen panel through a combination of additional meters and HHs. While NPX is now the official currency of record, all data pre-12/28/15 remains based on the old sample — so year-to-year and other comparisons are versus pre-NPX data.
