NO ‘OCTOBER SURPRISE’: “MEET THE PRESS WITH CHUCK TODD” IS #1 MOST-WATCHED SUNDAY SHOW ACROSS THE BOARD FOR THE MONTH

#1 Sunday Show Across the Board Season-to-Date

Delivers Best Key Demo Audience in More Than Seven Years

Up Almost +50 Percent in Key Demo Year-Over-Year, More than Double Combined Growth of ABC and CBS

NOV. 1, 2016 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the most-watched Sunday public affairs program across the board for the month of October, solidifying its rank as the #1 Sunday show season-to-date. MTP also delivered more growth year-over-year than any other Sunday show.

With an average of 3.848 million total viewers for the month, MTP grew +17 percent (more than the combined growth of ABC’s “This Week” and CBS’ “Face the Nation). This marks the best total viewer audience for the network broadcast in seven months (since March 2016).

In the key A25-54 demo, MTP delivered 1.185 million viewers in October, more than doubling the combined growth of ABC and CBS and growing almost +50 percent compared to October 2015. This marks the best key demo delivery for MTP in seven years (since April 2009).

This past Sunday, MTP won as the most-watched Sunday show in the key demo with 1.132 million viewers, marking its fifth straight win. Its momentum in the demo continued as with a five percent increase week-over-week and a +23 percent increase year-over-year. MTP also topped the competition by double-digits: +23 percent more than CBS and +20 percent more than ABC.

With 3.686 million total viewers, MTP grew two percent week-over-week and ten percent year-over year. Just one percent (-37,000) separated MTP in total viewers from CBS, which only rates 30 minutes of its hour-long program and benefits from the historically strong network lead-in of CBS’ “Sunday Morning.” MTP rated for 14 minutes more than CBS this past Sunday, Oct. 30.

In the influential Washington, D.C. market of newsmakers, MTP outperformed the combined deliveries of ABC and CBS in both total viewers and the key demo; it also marked its 73rd consecutive broadcast as the most-watched Sunday show in the market (since March 22, 2015).

Note: Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” was retitled this past Sunday because of NFL coverage.
