NBC NEWS LAUNCHES NEW 2024 FOCUS GROUP SERIES

“The Deciders” Monthly Focus Groups to Build on Reporting Focused on Key Issues Driving Voters to the Polls this November

In-Depth Conversation with Women Trump Voters from Pennsylvania Who Oppose the Overturn of Roe v. Wade to Air Thursday across NBC News NOW & MSNBC

Feb. 1, 2024 — NBC News on Thursday launched The Deciders Focus Groups, a new monthly series of in-depth conversations with key slices of the 2024 electorate conducted in collaboration with Engagious, Syracuse University’s Institute for Democracy, Journalism & Citizenship, and Sago. Highlights from the first conversation will air Thursday starting at 4 p.m. on Meet the Press NOW

Moderated by Engagious president Rich Thau, each session will give audiences an in-depth look at voter attitudes ahead of the 2024 election by featuring a unique subset of the electorate – broken down by demographic, geography, or ideology – that NBC News polling has shown could play a determining role in the outcome of November’s election.

The first conversation features 15 Pennsylvania women who voted for former President Donald Trump in 2020 and oppose the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Other featured groups will be announced in the coming months.

Building on the work of over three dozen journalists reporting on The Deciders – seven key voting blocs that will shape the story of the 2024 election from the ground level – these focus groups will take NBC News audiences even deeper into the issues that matter most to voters this cycle. Together, these focus groups and reporting will illustrate the key trends and subcurrents impacting voters’ decision-making this year.

The first focus group will launch Thursday at 4 p.m. on Meet the Press NOW on NBC News NOW, with reporting from NBC News Washington Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor. Segments will additionally air across MSNBC Thursday evening and Friday.

NBC News National Political Reporter Ben Kamisar will report on each session for NBCNews.com. Additional excerpts from each conversation will feature across NBCU News Group television and digital platforms.
