LAURA JARRETT NAMED CO-ANCHOR OF NBC NEWS’ ‘SATURDAY TODAY’

Jarrett Will Join Co-Anchor Peter Alexander as “Saturday TODAY” Returns to Studio 1A in New York, September 9

NEW YORK – August 9, 2023 – Laura Jarrett has been named co-anchor of NBC News’ Saturday TODAY. Jarrett will begin her new role Saturday, September 9 alongside co-anchor Peter Alexander. Saturday TODAY will return to Studio 1A in New York City from its current home in Washington D.C. Jarrett will continue in her role as NBC News Senior Legal Correspondent and Alexander will continue his role as Chief White House Correspondent.

Jarrett joined NBC News in January 2023 covering the Department of Justice and the Supreme Court while also providing analysis on legal issues, law enforcement and major breaking news stories. She has covered cases that have captured the nation including the Alex Murdaugh trial and the Idaho college murders. Jarrett appears across the NBCU News Group’s flagship platforms including TODAYNBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, and Meet the Press in addition to reporting for MSNBC, NBC News NOW and NBC News Digital. Jarrett previously worked at CNN where she spent six years covering the Department of Justice and legal affairs for the network. She also served as the co-anchor of Early Start. Jarrett has covered several notable legal stories, including the Supreme Court’s decision overruling Roe v. Wade, the Congressional investigation into January 6, the investigations into former President Trump and the legal battles over COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

Jarrett is a graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Law School. She resides in New York with her husband and two children.

In addition to Jarrett, NBC News correspondent Joe Fryer has been named Saturday TODAY Feature Anchor. Fryer will contribute original reporting on the day’s headlines along with his unique brand of storytelling. Fryer will continue as co-anchor of Morning News NOW on NBC News NOW.

Joining Peter Alexander, Laura Jarrett and Joe Fryer in studio 1A will be meteorologist Angie Lassman. Lassman joined NBC News in December 2022, offering forecasting and climate-related stories to the wider NBCU News Group. 

Saturday TODAY airs nationally on most NBC stations.
