#1 in Key Demo for 39th Straight Broadcast – Best Streak in Over 18 Years

OCTOBER 30, 2018 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the month of October, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its 11th straight month at #1 and its best streak in over seven years (since September 2011).

3.177 million total viewers tuned into MTP in October, +16 percent (+434,000) more than ABC’s This Week and four percent (+111,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. October marks the 17th straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the 11th straight month MTP has beaten CBS in total viewers. Compared to last month, MTP increased its lead over ABC by +48 percent (+141,000) and CBS by +107,000 viewers (+111,000 vs. +4,000 last month). Compared to last year, MTP improved its lead over ABC by +20 percent (+71,000) and turned its loss to CBS into a win (+111,000 vs. -288,000 last year), posting its biggest October advantage over ABC in seven years (since October 2011) and CBS in two years (since October 2016).

MTP continues to dominate the demo most valued by news advertisers, winning its 13th consecutive month among A24-54 viewers. 820,000 key demo viewers tuned in in October, as MTP outperformed its competition by double-digits: +29 percent (+183,000) more than ABC and +16 percent (+110,000) more than CBS. October is the 13th straight month MTP has beaten ABC and the 33rd straight month MTP has beaten CBS in the key demo. Compared to last month, MTP improved its advantage over ABC by +76 percent (+79,000). Year over year, MTP increased its lead over ABC by +44 percent (+56,000), posting its biggest October lead over ABC in two years (since October 2016).

MTP was also the most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, October 28. Sunday’s broadcast featured interviews with Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto and CEO and National Director of the Anti-Defamation League Jonathan Greenblatt following the shooting at Tree of Life Congregation synagogue in Pittsburgh. NRCC Chair Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) and DCCC Chair Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) also joined the broadcast in a joint interview.

3.263 million total viewers tuned in to the Sunday program: +17 percent (+477,000) more than ABC and seven percent (+200,000) more than CBS. This marks the broadcast’s 21st straight win over ABC and second straight win over CBS in total viewers. Compared to last year, MTP increased its lead over ABC by seven percent (+32,000) and turned its loss to CBS into a win (+200,000 vs. -13,000 last year).

MTP also won in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 39th straight broadcast, beating ABC and CBS by double-digits. 868,000 A25-54 demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +31 percent (+205,000) more than ABC and +18 percent (+129,000) more than CBS. This is the broadcast’s best streak in over 18 years (since October 15, 2000). Compared to last week, MTP grew by two percent (+16,000), posting its third straight week of growth and a seven week high in demo viewership (since September 9, 2018). Compared to last year, MTP improved its advantage over ABC by seven percent (+13,000).

Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo for the third consecutive year.

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).

An additional 1.063 million total viewers and 331,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
