Continues as #1 Most-Watched Sunday Show Across the Board Season-to-Date

MAY 22, 2018 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) wins the 2018 May Sweeps across the board – its second consecutive sweeps period as the #1 most-watched Sunday show on all fronts – according to Nielsen Media Research data.

The May Sweeps win is the broadcast’s first in total viewers in seven years (since May 2011). MTP averaged 3.226 million total viewers, beating ABC’s “This Week” by +12 percent (+343,000) and CBS’ “Face the Nation” by three percent (+91,000).

In the demo most valued by news advertisers, an average of 862,000 A25-54 viewers tuned into the broadcast during the May sweeps period, topping the competition by double-digits: ABC by ten percent (+80,000) and CBS by +21 percent (+149,000). This is the third straight May Sweeps win and the 10th straight sweeps period win in the key demo for MTP.

MTP was also the #1 most-watched Sunday show this past Sunday, May 20 in the key demo, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Sunday’s broadcast featured exclusive interviews with former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone, who shared he’s “prepared” to be indicted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

MTP is delivering its best winning streak in the most important demo in nearly seven years (since September, 18, 2011). This week’s win marks the 22nd straight Sunday MTP has beat the competition in the demo. 844,000 A25-54 demo viewers tuned into Sunday’s program: six percent more than ABC (+46,000) and +13 percent (+97,000) more than CBS.

MTP beat ABC in total viewers, with an average of 3.041 million total viewers watching Sunday’s broadcast (one percent/+28,000 more than ABC). This marks MTP’s fourth consecutive total viewer win over ABC. Just six percent (186,000) of viewers separated MTP from CBS, which only rates for thirty minutes of its hour-long broadcast.

Season-to-date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board. The program is beating its competition by double-digits in the key demo; it’s also delivering its best lead in total viewers over ABC in six years (since 2011-2012) and over CBS in seven years (since 2010-2011).

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers for more than three straight years (since March 22, 2015).

An additional 1.084 million total viewers and 287,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
