Beats ABC and CBS by Double-Digits in Key Demo for January

Wins Sunday Across the Board as #1 Most-Watched Sunday Show

Only Sunday Show to Deliver More Than One Million A25-54 Viewers This Past Sunday

JANUARY 30, 2018 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the month of January, according to Nielsen Media Research data, marking its second straight month at #1.

3.858 million total viewers tuned into MTP in January, beating ABC’s “This Week” by +17 percent (+548,000) and CBS’ “Face the Nation” by five percent (+192,000). Year-over-year, MTP improved its advantage over ABC by +36 percent (+144,000) marking the show’s biggest January lead over ABC in five years. MTP holds its biggest January lead over CBS in six years. January is the second straight month that MTP is #1 in total viewers.

Winning its fourth straight month, MTP continues to dominate the demo most valued by news advertisers with 1.058 million A25-54 viewers tuning into the program for January. MTP outperformed its competition by double-digits: +14 percent (+128,000) more than ABC and +31 percent (+251,000) more than CBS, which only rates for the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast. January was the 24th straight month that MTP has beat CBS and the fourth straight month that MTP has beat ABC.

MTP was also the most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, January 28. Sunday’s show featured exclusive interviews with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) who said there’s no “need for legislation right now to protect Mueller” and former Defense Sec. Robert Gates as well as an interview with Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).

3.548 million total viewers tuned into MTP on Sunday: eight percent (+277,000) more than ABC’s “This Week” and eight percent (+272,000) more than CBS’ “Face the Nation.” This marks MTP’s 42nd straight win over ABC. MTP also won in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its eight straight broadcast and was the only Sunday show to deliver more than one million A25-54 viewers. One million demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: eight percent (+75,000) more than ABC and +47 percent (+321,000) more than CBS. MTP improved its advantage over CBS by +48 percent (+104,000) week over week and by +21 percent (+57,000) year over year.

Season-to-date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo, beating competition by double-digits: ABC by +14 percent (+116,000) and CBS by +22 percent (+172,000). Just two percent of total viewers separate MTP from CBS.

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, outperforming its competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers since March 22, 2015.

An additional 1.326 million total viewers and 325,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
