Delivers Largest Advantage in May Sweeps Over ABC in Total Viewers Since 2012
Tops Competition in Year-Over-Year Growth with Double-Digit Gains Across-the-Board
MAY 26, 2016 – “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” (MTP) won the key A25-54 viewer demo for May 2016 Sweeps, posting its biggest May Sweep demo audience since 2011.
The network broadcast also delivered its biggest advantage over CBS in five years in the demo and its widest lead over ABC in the demo during a May Sweep in four years. MTP has shifted from #3 to #1 in the key demo from May 2015 Sweeps to May 2016 Sweeps.
MTP delivered its biggest total viewer audience in a May Sweep since 2008. Just 83,000 viewers separated MTP from CBS’ “Face the Nation” half-hour program in winning May Sweeps as the most-watched Sunday public affairs program. This margin is the narrowest between the two networks since 2011.
MTP also posted its largest advantage over ABC in total viewers for any Sweep since February 2013 and has shifted from #3 to #2 in total viewers from May 2015 Sweeps to May 2016 Sweeps.
Compared to last year’s May Sweeps, MTP has grown the most out of all Sunday public affairs programs with double-digit gains across-the-board: +37 percent in total viewers and +27 percent in A25-54 viewers.
“Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” was pre-empted nationally on Sunday, May 14.
