TRUMP LEADS CRUZ IN INDIANA BY 15 POINTS IN NEW NBC NEWS/WSJ/MARIST POLL

Race Between Clinton, Sanders Tight as Clinton Leads by Just Four Points

58 Percent of Indiana GOP Voters Disapprove of Cruz-Kasich Alliance

In Hypothetical General Election Matchups: Trump Leads Clinton by Seven, Kasich Beats Clinton by 19 Points

MAY 1, 2016 – Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump holds a 15-point lead in Indiana over rival Texas Sen. Ted Cruz ahead of the state’s primary this Tuesday, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll.

49 percent of likely Republican primary voters support Trump, followed by Sen. Cruz with 34 percent; Ohio Gov. John Kasich trails 13 percent support.

On the Democratic side, only four points separate former Sec. Hillary Clinton from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), 50 percent to 46 percent, respectively.

Though the poll was conducted after the announcement from Sen. Cruz and Gov. Kasich about an alliance to help each other, 58 percent of likely GOP voters in Indiana disapprove of both candidates teaming up to beat Trump in their state. 63 percent say the alliance plays no factor in their vote.

In a hypothetical general election matchup, Trump is ahead of Clinton by seven points in the Hoosier state: 48 percent to 41 percent. However, Trump’s lead is just one point when matched against Sen. Sanders: 47 percent to 46 percent.

Sen. Cruz is also ahead of Clinton in the state by seven points (50 percent to 43 percent), while Gov. Kasich beats Clinton by 19 points (56 percent to 37 percent). Gov. Kasich beats Sen.  Sanders by one point (47 percent to 46 percent), but Sen. Sanders leads Sen. Cruz by three (48 percent to 45 percent).
