Cruz Moves into Second Place in GOP Field, Up Two Points From Last Week
75 Percent of Republican Voters Believe Trump Will Be Party Nominee
MARCH 8, 2016 – Former Sec. Hillary Clinton has gained four points nationally this past week while Donald Trump continues to hold a sizable lead over his Republican rivals ahead of tonight’s four nominating contests in Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan and Mississippi, according to the latest NBC News|SurveyMonkey online tracking poll.
Clinton’s rise, paired with the three-point drop of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), marks the first large shift in the online tracking poll since its debut in the beginning of January. With 55 percent support, Clinton leads Sanders by 17 points.

With 39 percent of support from registered Republican voters, Trump holds a 19-point lead over Texas Sen. Ted Cruz; Florida Sen. Marco Rubio follows with 18 percent support and Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 9 percent support.
Up from just 50 percent in December, now 75 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning voters believe Trump will be the party’s nominee.
