NBC Broadcast Widens Demo Lead Over ABC By 825% Versus Same Week Last Season

Nightly is #1 Across The Board For 15th Straight Week, Marks 20th Straight Total Viewer Win

NOVEMBER 10, 2015 – “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” is #1 across the board for the week of November 2-6, delivering its biggest total viewer and demo audiences in eight months (since the week of 3/2/15).

Week-to-week, Nightly posted the most growth among the network newscasts, increasing in total viewers (+6%, or +510,000), A25-54 viewers (+7%, or +144,000), and A18-49 viewers (+9%, or +130,000).

Compared to the same week last season, Nightly widened its A25-54 demo lead over ABC by 825% (up from last year’s +12,000 gap).  Among younger viewers A18-49, Nightly has led ABC by at least 100,000 viewers for 12 straight weeks.

The NBC broadcast has been #1 among total viewers for 20 straight weeks, 25 of the last 28 weeks, and 313 of the last 320 weeks.

Season-to-date, Nightly is the #1 evening news program in total viewers and all key demographics.

Weekly Highlights:         

  • Nightly averaged 9.016 million total viewers, outperforming ABC by +230,000 (+3%) and CBS by +1.449 million (+19%).
  • Nightly averaged 2.116 million A25-54 viewers, +111,000 (+6%) higher than ABC and +455,000 (+27%) more than CBS.
  • Nightly has been #1 among A25-54 for 15 straight weeks and 19 of the last 20 weeks.
  • Nightly averaged 1.533 million A18-49 viewers, leading ABC by +169,000 (+12%) and CBS by +423,000 (+38%).
  • Nightly ranked #1 among A18-49 viewers for the 15th consecutive week and the 19th in the last 20 weeks, and 23rd of the last 26 weeks.

Season-to-Date Highlights:

  • Nightly is averaging 8.385 million total viewers, leading ABC by +186,000 (+2% )and CBS by +1.398 million (+20%).
  • Nightly is averaging 1.993 million A25-54 viewers, leading ABC by +115,000 (+6% )and CBS by +433,000 (+28%).
  • Nightly is averaging 1.430 million A18-49 viewers, leading ABC by +161,000 (+13% )and CBS by +375,000 (+36%).
  • Compared to last year, Nightly has more than doubled its A18-49 advantage over ABC (+105%, from a +78,000 advantage last year).
