NBC Broadcast Delivers 8th Straight Total Viewer Win, Posts Year-to-Year Demo Growth 

AUGUST 18, 2015 – “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” was #1 across the board for the third straight week and seventh out of eight weeks since Holt was named anchor.  This marks the NBC broadcast’s eighth straight win among total viewers.

Nightly was the only network evening newscast to grow among A25-54 viewers compared to the same week last year.  Nightly has now won among total viewers for 8 consecutive weeks, 13 of the last 16 weeks, and 301 of the last 308 weeks.

Season-to-date, Nightly is #1 in total viewers, A25-54, and A18-49.

Weekly Highlights:            

  • According to Nielsen Media Research Live+Same Day data for the week of August 10-14, Nightly averaged 7.953 million total viewers, +269,000 (+4%) ahead of ABC World News Tonight and +1.574 million (+25%) more than CBS Evening News.
  • Nightly averaged 1.931 million A25-54 viewers, leading ABC by +121,000 (+7%) and CBS by +475,000 (+33%).
  • Nightly delivered a 1.6 A25-54 rating, +1 tenth more than ABC and +4 tenths more than CBS.
  • Nightly averaged 1.365 million A18-49 viewers, +89,000 (+7%) higher than ABC and +358,000 (+36%) more than CBS.
  • Nightly delivered a 1.1 A18-49 rating, +1 tenth more than ABC and +3 tenths more than CBS.

Season-to-Date Highlights:

  • Nightly is averaging 8.677 million total viewers, outperforming ABC by +349,000 (+4%) and CBS by +24% (1.659 million).
  • Nightly is averaging 2.066 million A25-54 viewers this season, leading ABC by +15,000 (+1%) and CBS by +433,000 (+26%).
  • Nightly is averaging 1.482 million A18-49 viewers this season, leading ABC by +90,000 (+6%) and CBS by +370,000 (+33%).
