Over 36.5 Billion Minutes of “Dateline” Consumed Across TV & Digital

March Expected to Deliver Best Month on Digital for “Dateline”

PLUS: Showcast Marks Best Quarter on Record, Nearing 1 Billion Downloads Since Launch

March 27, 2023 – Dateline is the #1 most-watched newsmagazine and true-crime franchise across all of TV during the 1st quarter, with over 80.4 million total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. Additionally, over 36.5 billion minutes of Dateline were consumed across TV and digital platforms, which includes NBC, cable, broadcast syndication and Peacock’s Dateline 24/7 channel. This marks an increase of +13% vs.1Q22. 

Dateline also marked its strongest quarter on record with more than 150 million video views across digital platforms. March is pacing to be Dateline’s best month on record for digital with more than 60 million video views, growing by triple-digits versus last year.

Additionally, Dateline’s chart-topping showcast, which features broadcasts as podcast episodes, delivered its strongest quarter ever with 100 million downloads, growing by more than +20% vs. 1Q22. The showcast is set to hit 1 billion lifetime downloads in the next few weeks as it continues to rank as the #1 true-crime podcast, according to Podtrac. Dateline also debuted The Girl in the Blue Mustang podcast this quarter, which has reached more than 1.2M downloads since its premiere.

This Friday also marks Dateline’s 31st anniversary.

Airing Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT and Sundays at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT, Dateline also airs across NBC, cable and in broadcast syndication, with hundreds of hours available to stream on Peacock’s Dateline 24/7 channel. Dateline 24/7 can also be viewed on channels on Roku, TuneIn and Xumo.
