NEW YORK – March 14, 2023 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show last week topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” in A25-54, marking its third consecutive week winning the key demo. Last week, TODAY was the only morning program to grow across the board and delivered an 8-week high in A25-54 and an 11-week high in total viewers. Additionally, TODAY more than tripled its demo lead over GMA versus the prior week and also grew its demo lead versus the prior year.  

Season to date, TODAY is the top-rated morning show in the key demo A25-54 for eight years straight and number-one in A18-49 for ten years straight.

TODAY Digital reached 14.3 million unique visitors last week, growing year over year.

TODAY averaged 775,000 A25-54 viewers, beating Good Morning America by +47,000 (+6%) and leading CBS Mornings by +262,000 (+51%)

  • TODAY ranked #1 in A25-54 for the 3rd consecutive week and has now beaten CBS in the demo for 1,595 consecutive weeks (since week of 8/10/1992)
  • TODAY’s A25-54 viewership and demo advantage over CBS both hit 8-week highs (best since 1/9/23)
  • Week-over-week, TODAY was the only morning show up in A25-54 viewership (+19,000, or +3%), more than tripled its demo lead over GMA (+47,000 vs. +13,000 prior week), and improved its advantage over CBS by 22% (+262,000 vs. +215,000 prior week)
  • Compared to the same week last season, TODAY improved its A25-54 viewership advantage vs. GMA by 4% (+47,000 vs. +45,000 prior year) 

TODAY averaged 542,000 A18-49 viewers, beating GMA by +58,000 (+12%) and leading CBS by +192,000 (+55%)

  • Week-over-week, TODAY was the only program up in A18-49 viewership (+8,000, or +2%) while improving its advantage over GMA by 45% (+58,000 vs. +40,000 prior week) and CBS by 12% (+192,000 vs. +171,000 prior week)
  • Compared to the same week last season, TODAY improved its A18-49 viewership advantage vs. GMA by 23% (+58,000 vs. +47,000 prior year)

TODAY averaged 3.014 million total viewers, leading CBS by +606,000 (+25%)

  • Total viewership for TODAY rose to an 11-week high (best since 12/19/2023), its gap vs. GMA was the closest in 6 weeks (best since 1/23/2023), while its advantage over CBS is the largest seen in 15 weeks (since 11/21/2022)
  • TODAY has now outperformed CBS for 1,595 consecutive weeks (since 8/10/1992)
  • Week-over-week, TODAY was the only program up in total viewership: TODAY +1% (+39,000). TODAY also reduced its total viewership gap vs. GMA by 23% (-306,000 vs. -399,000 prior week) and improved its advantage vs. CBS by 11% (+606,000 vs. +548,000 prior week).
  • Compared to the same week last season, TODAY reduced its total viewership gap vs. GMA by 4% (-306,000 vs. -320,000 prior year) and improved its advantage vs. CBS by 12% (+606,000 vs. +543,000 prior year)

TODAY Digital reached 14.3M unique visitors last week (5% YoY)

  • The brand drove 39M video views across on and off net platforms (29% WoW, 23% YoY)
  • TODAY had their best week since September 2022 at 40M on & off net starts
