TODAY Narrows Total Viewer Gap With GMA Versus Prior Year

NEW YORK – March 15, 2022 – NBC News’ TODAY was the number-one morning show last week topping ABC’s “Good Morning America” in the key demo A25-54. The win marks 333 out of the last 341 weeks in first place. 

Last week, TODAY was the only morning program to grow across the board. Additionally, TODAY narrowed the total viewer gap with GMA versus the prior year.

Season to date, TODAY has been the winner in the key demo for seven years straight and in A18-49 for nine years straight.  

TODAY Digital reached 13.6 million unique visitors last week, growing versus the prior week.

TODAY HIGHLIGHTS:

TODAY averaged 869,000 A25-54 viewers, beating ABC by +44,000 (+5%) and leading CBS by +295,000 (+51%)

  • TODAY has beaten ABC for 10 consecutive weeks (since 1/3/2022) and for 334 of the last 341 weeks
  • Vs. prior week, TODAY was the only program up: TODAY +2% (+17,000) vs. ABC -2% and CBS -3%
    • WoW, TODAY improved its A25-54 viewership advantage vs. ABC by 450% (+44,000 vs. +8,000 prior week) and improved its A25-54 viewership advantage vs. CBS by 13% (+295,000 vs. +260,000 prior week)

TODAY averaged 599,000 A18-49 viewers, beating ABC by +46,000 (+8%) and leading CBS by +193,000 (+48%)

  • Vs. prior week, TODAY was the only program up: TODAY +7% (+37,000) vs. ABC -2% and CBS -4%
    • WoW, TODAY improved its A18-49 viewership advantage vs. CBS by 37% (+193,000 vs. +141,000 prior week)

TODAY averaged 3.139 million total viewers, leading CBS by +544,000 (+21%)

  • Vs. prior week, all three programs were up: TODAY +0.01% (+1,000) vs. ABC +2% and CBS +1%

TODAY Digital reached 13.6M unique visitors growing week over week.
