NBC NEWS NOW BECOMES FIRST U.S. STREAMING NEWS NETWORK TO SECURE INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION DISTRIBUTION

Partnership with Sky UK and Virgin Media Makes NBC News NOW the Most Widely Distributed U.S. Streaming News Network in the United Kingdom

Network Remains Ad-Supported Across All Platforms, No Additional Cost to Viewers

MARCH 8, 2022 – NBC News NOW this month will become the first U.S.-based streaming network to have international distribution on television in Europe, bringing NBC News’ world-renowned journalists and trusted reporting to significantly more viewers globally.

NBC News NOW will be available through Sky UK and Virgin Media in the U.K., making it the most widely distributed U.S. streaming news network in the country. The first-of-its-kind international expansion will broaden the reach of the streaming network to a key European market at no additional fee to all consumers. NBC News NOW will remain ad-supported across all platforms, both domestically and internationally.

“We are proud of the immense success and audience growth we’ve had with NBC News NOW in the U.S. and are excited to bring the world-class reporting representing the best of NBC News to more international audiences,” said Satpal Brainch, chief commercial officer for NBCU News Group.

NBC News NOW was launched in 2019 and is one of three distinct and established streaming offerings from NBCU News Group. Under Chairman Cesar Conde, NBCU News Group initiated significant investments to accelerate its premium streaming programming and platforms, adding hundreds of new jobs and several new live hours of original shows across NBC News NOW, TODAY All Day, and MSNBC’s ‘The Choice’ on Peacock.

Designed to reach the next-generation news consumer, NBC News NOW is the fastest-growing streaming news network in the U.S. and is also available via the NBC News Android and IOS app in more than 175 countries, and plans to reach more global viewers across other platforms.

The streaming network reached record viewership in 2021 with an average of 60 million views and more than 20 million hours watched each month. More recently, as the world continues to closely monitor the conflict in Ukraine, viewers are continually turning to NBC News NOW for the latest developments. Tom Llamas anchored the primetime newscast Top Story from Ukraine and was the only anchor reporting on the ground there for a U.S.-based streaming news network.  The week of breaking news marked NBC News NOW’s most watched week since the January 6 attack on Capitol Hill and President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Featuring more live daily original programming than any news streaming network, international NBC News NOW viewers will soon get the day’s headlines and breaking news across the world from the most-trusted and recognizable names in television news including Lester Holt, Hallie Jackson, Tom Llamas, Chuck Todd, Kristen Welker, Joshua Johnson, and more.
