In the NBC News exclusive – with earlier reporting appearing on NBC Nightly News – four of the original Havana Syndrome victims speak out and share their experiences at the center of this geopolitical mystery, despite officials still not being able to determine a cause or clear explanation as to what happened, several years later. They describe the strange episodes, the aftermath and how their injuries have forever changed their lives. The victims hope that revealing their identities will humanize what is happening and give credibility to reports of the phenomena, which some have suggested are psychosomatic. Foreign Service Officer Tina Onufer, one of the victims speaking out, tells NBC News,  “I know a lot of people still see this as kind of a science-fiction novel plot but it’s very, very real.”

From NBC News Investigations and NBC News Digital, this new original documentary – on the heels of Andrea Mitchell’s previous reporting for NBC Nightly News on Havana Syndrome – features an additional interview with one Havana Syndrome victim who has never before been publicly identified.

The original digital documentary is now available on NBCNews.com. It will also stream on NBC News NOW on Friday, Dec. 24 at 4 p.m. ET and on demand on Peacock beginning Dec. 27.
