New Primetime Program to Stream Weeknights at 8 PM ET

Streaming Program Will Launch with Viewer Engagement Tools

Nov. 30, 2021 – On Monday, Dec. 6, NBC News will debut NOW Tonight with Joshua Johnson, a primetime streaming program on NBC News NOW, hosted by NBC News’ Joshua Johnson. 

The one-hour, deep-dive program will stream at 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday on NBC News NOW, available on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, as well as on Fubo, Pluto, Samsung TV Plus, The Roku Channel, Tubi, Xumo, YouTube, YouTube TV, and NBC News’ apps on Roku, Fire TV and Apple TV. 

In this chaotic news cycle, NOW Tonight with Joshua Johnson will take a step back to offer viewers context into the why and the how behind the biggest stories of the day. Joshua Johnson — with contributions from expert guests and the full breadth of NBC News’ reporters and correspondents — will help make sense of it all. The show’s in-depth segments will reveal a bigger picture behind the story, and extended newsmaker interviews will weave in curated questions and stories from the public into conversations. 

The primetime program will also connect with its audience, utilizing an extensive social media presence to call on its audience for daily participation, a voicemail line and email address that lets viewers share opinions and feedback, and a submission portal on NBCNews.com so users can respond to questions posed by the NOW Tonight team.

This launch follows a recent announcement by NBCU News Group Chairman Cesar Conde on the organization’s significant streaming and digital investment, adding new original programming and hundreds of jobs to NBC News NOW and across the NBCU News Group Digital organization. NBC News NOW launched its first two primetime programs earlier this fall — Hallie Jackson NOW and Top Story with Tom Llamas. With the launch of NOW Tonight with Joshua Johnson, NBC News NOW averages nearly 10 hours of live, original programming each day. 

Since launching in 2019, NBC News NOW has grown to an average of nearly 60 million views and 20 million hours watched each month. The launch of NOW Tonight with Joshua Johnson is the newest addition to the streaming service’s growing slate of programming, which includes Hallie Jackson NOW, Top Story with Tom Llamas, Morning News NOW with Joe Fryer and Savannah Sellers, NBC News NOW Live with Aaron Gilchrist and Morgan Radford, NBC News NOW Live with Alison Morris and Chuck Todd’s weekly show Meet The Press Reports.
