AN EXCLUSIVE NBC NEWS INVESTIGATION: ANDREA MITCHELL SITS DOWN WITH ORIGINAL HAVANA SYNDROME VICTIMS

EXCLUSIVE TO AIR THIS WED. OCT. 13 ON ‘NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT’

Oct. 11, 2021 – NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell will sit down with three of the original Havana Syndrome victims, now speaking out publicly and revealing their identities for the first time in an exclusive TV interview.

The interviews will air this Wednesday, Oct. 13 on ‘NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt’ at 6:30 p.m. ET with more on ‘TODAY’ and ‘Andrea Mitchell Reports’ on MSNBC on Thursday, Oct. 14.

During the interviews, the diplomats will describe the strange episodes that they believe led to their injuries, the sounds and sensations, and aftermath of the geopolitical mystery that has gripped the international community for nearly five years.

With more than 200 reported cases to date, the diplomats told NBC News that they decided to speak out now because the pattern of these incidents has continued. One said, “I want viewers to understand that this is actually happening. We’re not making this up, this happened to real people, people who live among you, you see us at the grocery store … this is happening.” Another tells Mitchell, “It just seems important to humanize this for America to help all my fellow Americans … understand that as much skepticism as still seems to surround this, it’s very real.”

The interview will air Wednesday, Oct. 13 on ‘NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt’ at 6:30 p.m. ET (or check local listings). Additional portions of the sit-down will air Thursday, Oct. 14 on NBC News’ ‘TODAY,’ ‘Andrea Mitchell Reports’ on MSNBC, and NBC News NOW. The interviews will also be available on NBCNews.com.
