#1 In Key Demo For 18 Straight Months; Tops ABC And CBS By Double Digits

Feb. 2, 2021 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the first month of 2021 and this past Sunday, January 31, according to Nielsen Media Research.
MTP Finished January at #1, Best Across the Board Delivery in Nine Months
MTP averaged 3.981 million total viewers, topping ABC’s This Week by +438,000 and CBS’s Face the Nation by +16,000. This marks MTP’s best total viewer monthly delivery in nine months (since April 2020) as well as MTP’s best total viewer advantage over ABC in six months (since July 2020). Compared to last January, MTP was up +20 percent (+664,000).
January marked MTP’s 18th consecutive month at #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers and fifth straight January win. MTP averaged 899,000 A25-54 key demo viewers for the month of January and topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +20 percent (+150,000) ahead of ABC and +17 percent (+132,000) ahead of CBS. This marks MTP’s best A25-54 monthly delivery in nine months (since April 2020) as well as MTP’s best A25-54 advantage over ABC in six months (since July 2020) and CBS in seven months (since June 2020). Compared to last January, MTP was up +18 percent (+140,000).
Also #1 on Sunday, Only Sunday Show to Grow Across the Board Week Over Week
MTP was also the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, January 31 and averaged 3.836 million total viewers. MTP topped ABC by +14 percent (+484,000) and CBS by three percent (+96,000). Compared to last week, MTP was the only Sunday show to grow in total viewers and was up two percent (+63,000) and compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP grew the most and was up +24 percent (+749,000).
MTP was also #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers this past Sunday and topped both ABC and CBS by double digits. MTP averaged 863,000 A25-54 viewers, +21 percent (+147,000) more than ABC and +22 percent (+155,000) more than CBS. Compared to last week, MTP was the only Sunday show to grow and was up five percent (+45,000) and compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP grew the most and was up +28 percent (+188,000).
Sunday’s broadcast featured interviews with Brian Deese, Director of the National Economic Council; Michael Osterholm, Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota; and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.).
An additional 195,000 total viewers and 68,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through a rebroadcast on NBC.
January Marks MTP’s Second Best Month Ever Across Digital with 25 Million Total Views
January was MTP’s second best month ever on digital with full episodes averaging more than 2.6 million views on YouTube, up +55 percent vs. its 2020 average. MTP’s clips and full episodes in January saw 25 million total views and more than 4.2 million hours watched.
In addition, last Sunday’s full episode saw 1.4 million views on YouTube. And, January 24’s episode has accumulated more than 1.7 million views on YouTube.
Almost Six Years as #1 Most Watched Sunday Show in Washington, D.C.
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, more than doubling the competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers in almost six years (since March 22, 2015).
