Tops Competition By Double Digits In The Key Demo

Jan. 20, 2021 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the most-watched Sunday show across the board for the third straight Sunday of 2021, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Sunday’s broadcast featured interviews with Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.); Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.); Mayor of the District of Columbia Muriel Bowser (D); and Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

MTP was the only Sunday show to deliver more than 4 million total viewers and averaged 4.098 million viewers, topping ABC’s This Week by +14 percent (+501,000) and CBS’s Face the Nation by seven percent (+260,000). Compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP was up +23 percent (+769,000).

MTP was also #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers and topped both ABC and CBS by double digits. MTP averaged 991,000 A25-54 viewers: +26 percent (+207,000) more than ABC and +32 percent (+243,000) more than CBS. Compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP grew the most and was up +31 percent (+237,000).

An additional 222,000 total viewers and 41,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through a rebroadcast on NBC.

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, more than doubling the competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers in almost six years (since March 22, 2015).
