Beats GMA in All-Important Demo for 258 of past 260 Weeks

#1 Morning Show in A25-54 Again at this Point in the Season for Six Straight Years 

NEW YORK – Dec. 22, 2020 – For the 69th straight week, NBC News’ “TODAY” won the demo most coveted by advertisers, beating ABC’s “Good Morning America” (GMA) in A25-54 for 258 of the past 260 weeks. “TODAY” has held its spot as the number-one morning show in the all-important demo at this point of the season, for six years in-a-row.

TODAY averaged 989,000 A25-54 viewers, leading GMA by +69,000 (+7%) and CBS This Morning by +364,000 (+58%)

  • TODAY has now ranked #1 in A25-54 for 69 consecutive weeks (includes one tie) and 258 of the last 260 weeks

TODAY averaged 713,000 A18-49 viewers, topping GMA by +75,000 (+12%) and CBS by +271,000 (+61%)

  • TODAY has ranked #1 in A18-49 for 65 consecutive weeks and 127 of the last 129 weeks

TODAY averaged 3.273 million total viewers, beating CBS This Morning by +540,000 (+20%)

2020-21 SEASON-TO-DATE (9/21/2020-12/20/2020)

TODAY has ranked #1 in both A25-54 and A18-49 at this point of the season for 6 consecutive years

TODAY’s A18-49 lead over GMA (+129,000) is 13% higher than prior year and its biggest advantage in three seasons

Ratings now reflect the addition of Out of Home (OOH) viewership that Nielsen Media Research began measuring on Aug. 31 across only 44 markets.
