APRIL 23, 2017 — In the face of a potential government shutdown this week, Reince Priebus, chief of staff to President Trump, exclusively told “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd: “I believe it will” stay open.

On the continuing resolution for government funding, Priebus said that the money for border security will be enough “to move forward with either the construction or the planning, or enough for us to move forward through the end of September, to get going on the border wall and border security in regard to border patrol.”

“We expect money for border security in this bill. And it ought to be,” he added.

Priebus said he “would like to have a vote this week” on healthcare, “ but again, it’s not something that has to happen in order to define our success.” Watch the full interview.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) also exclusively joined the network’s broadcast, telling Todd that, when it comes to the potential government shutdown, “the burden to keep it open is on the Republicans.”

On the proposed border wall, Pelosi asserted that it is “expressing a sign of weakness” for the president; she also said that “of course” you can be a Democrat if you’re pro-life. Watch the full interview.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) addressed recent reporting that he had been involved in arranging a visit between Trump and two former Colombian presidents at Mar-a-Lago, denying any role whatsoever and telling Todd: “I didn’t even know they were in Florida.” Watch the full interview.

The show debuted new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll numbers, revealing that nearly two-thirds of Americans give the president poor of middling marks for his first 100 days in office.

Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher, The Washington Post’s Robert Costa, ‘TODAY’ co-anchor Savannah Guthrie and The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan joined the program’s roundtable for insight and analysis on the latest news, including the exit this week of Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, which Noonan noted as a “serious setback for sexual harassment in the workplace.”
