NEW YORK – December 5, 2014 – NBC’s TODAY continues to gain momentum posting multi-month highs in the key demos A25-54 and A18-49.   For the November sweep, TODAY narrowed the total viewer gap with GMA by 15% versus the November 2013 sweep.  TODAY has placed first in rating 18-49 for 82 straight sweeps and 23 straight November sweeps.

For the week of November 24, TODAY posted its narrowest A25-54 gap with GMA in three months (since week of 9/1/2014), closing that margin by a whopping 64% week to week.  TODAY was the only morning news show to increase its A25-54 audience week to week.  TODAY also cut its total viewer gap with GMA by 31% versus the same week last year.

TODAY posted the largest across-the-board gains among the morning news shows versus 4Q’14 and season-to-date levels, adding 360k viewers.  Year-to-date, TODAY places first in all 18-49 demo ratings.

TODAY HIGHLIGHTS:

Week of November 24

-TODAY was the only morning news show to increase its A25-54 audience week-to-week, This resulted in a 64% reduction in TODAY’s demo gap versus GMA from the prior week.

-TODAY came within 83k of GMA in A25-54 viewers, its closest margin in over two months (since week of 9/1/2014)

-TODAY delivered the biggest gains versus 4Q’14/STD levels in total viewers (8%, or +360,000), A18-449 viewers (+11%, or +154,000), and A25-54 viewers (+10%, or +181,000)

-TODAY was the #1 morning news program among younger viewers with 1.604 million A18-49 viewers, topping GMA by +8% (+122,000) and more than doubling CBS by +130% (+908,000)

-Calendar year 2014-to-date, TODAY remains the #1 morning news program among A18-49 viewers

-TODAY narrowed GMA’s leads:

–by 31% in total viewers compared to the same week last season

–by 10% in total viewers and 60% among A25-54 viewers versus the 4Q’14/STD averages

-TODAY averaged 5.147 million total viewers, +53% (+1.791 million) ahead of CBS This Morning

-TODAY averaged 2.023 million A25-54 viewers, leading CBS by +885 (+946,000)

-TODAY delivered a 1.7 A25-54 rating, leading CBS by +89% (+8 tenths)

-TODAY delivered a 1.3 A18-49 rating, +8% (+1 tenth) ahead of ABC and +160% (+8 tenths) more than CBS

-TODAY narrowed GMA’s total viewer lead by 15% versus November 2013 levels

-TODAY finished #1 in A18-49 with a 1.2 rating

-TODAY has now been #1 in rating A18-49 for 82 consecutive sweep periods and for 23 straight November sweeps

-TODAY averaged 5.120 million total viewers, +50% (+1.718 million) ahead of CBS

-TODAY averaged 1.939 million A25-54 viewers, topping CBS by +88% (+909,000)

-TODAY’s 1.6 A25-54 rating beat CBS by +78% (+7 tenths)
