NEW YORK – October 16, 2014 – NBC’s TODAY continues to gain momentum and deliver significant ratings growth.  For the week of October 6, TODAY posted its narrowest total viewer and A25-54 viewer gaps with GMA in five weeks.  TODAY also tremendously reduced GMA’s leads in both total viewers (by 14%) and A25-54 viewers (by 40%), week-to-week.  TODAY was the only morning news broadcast to post across-the-board, week-to-week growth in total viewers (+2%, or +99k), rating A18-49 (+10%), and rating A25-54 (+7%).

Year-to-date, TODAY has narrowed the total viewer gap with GMA by 10% versus the same period last year. TODAY ranks as the #1 morning news broadcast in A18-49 year-to-date.

TODAY HIGHLIGHTS:

• TODAY was the only morning news broadcast to post week-to-week growth in total viewers (+2%, or +99,000), rating W/A18-49 (+7%/+10%), and rating W/A25-54 (+5%/+7%)
• Week-to-week, TODAY reduced GMA’s leads in both total viewers (by 14%) and A25-54 viewers (by 40%)
• TODAY had its closest total viewer and A25-54 viewer gaps with GMA in five weeks
• In the 2014 calendar year-to-date, TODAY is the #1 morning news program among Women/Men/Adults 18-49 viewers
• Year-to-date, TODAY has narrowed the total viewer gap with GMA by 10% versus the same period last year.
• TODAY was also the only program to see gains versus its 4Q’14-to-date average in total viewers (+3%), A18-49 viewers (+6%), and A25-54 viewers (+4%)
• TODAY averaged 4.599 million total viewers, +46% (+1.457 million) ahead of CBS This Morning
• TODAY averaged 1.805 million A25-54 viewers, leading CBS by +86% (+833,000)
• TODAY’s 1.5 A25-54 rating was +88% (+7 tenths) ahead of CBS
• TODAY was the #1 morning news program with 1.441 million A18-49 viewers, +1% (+15,000) more than GMA and +115% (+770,000) more than CBS
