Only Morning Show to Increase Total Viewer Audience Last Week

NEW YORK – Feb. 9, 2021 – NBC News’ TODAY is once-again the number-one morning show in the all-important key demo after winning the top spot last week, marking 76 weeks in a row. TODAY has beat ABC’s “Good Morning America” (GMA) and “CBS This Morning” (CTM) for 265 of the past 267 weeks. For the season-to-date, TODAY is the most-watched morning show in A25-54, and has been at this point in the season for six consecutive years. 

Plus, TODAY was the only morning show that also increased its total viewership last week — both GMA and CBS saw their numbers decline.

TODAY averaged 991,000 A25-54 viewers, leading GMA by +66,000 (+7%) and CBS This Morning by +354,000 (+56%)

  • TODAY has now ranked #1 in the key demo for 76 consecutive weeks and 265 of the last 267 weeks
  • TODAY increased its A25-54 lead over CBS by 12% week-over-week

TODAY averaged 717,000 A18-49 viewers, leading GMA by +105,000 (+17%) and CBS by +272,000 (+61%)

  • TODAY is the #1 ranked morning show in A18-49 for the 72nd consecutive week and 284th of the last 287 weeks
  • TODAY posted its best A18-49 lead over GMA in five weeks
  • Week-over-week, TODAY improved its lead over GMA by 50% and CBS by 24%

TODAY averaged 3.383 million total viewers, beating CBS This Morning by +526,000 (+18%)

  • This was TODAY’s closest P2+ gap vs. GMA in five weeks
  • TODAY was the only morning show to increase its total viewership vs prior week (+59,000, or +2%)
