July 28, 2020 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the July sweep, according to Nielsen Media Research, marking the broadcast’s fourth consecutive sweep win across the board.
This past Sunday, MTP was preempted for coverage of Premier League Soccer.
Note: CBS’s Face The Nation was not rated for any of their broadcasts for the entire month of July. ABC’s This Week was also unrated this past Sunday.
MTP was the only Sunday show to deliver more than three million total viewers during the July sweep and averaged 3.252 million total viewers, topping ABC’s This Week by +19 percent (+519,000), CBS’s Face the Nation by nine percent (+279,000) and FOX News Sunday by +126 percent (1.812 million). This marked MTP’s best total viewer advantage over CBS in over two years (since February 2018 sweep). Compared to the prior July sweep, MTP was up by double-digits and grew +21 percent (+554,000).
An average of 729,000 A25-54 demo viewers tuned into the broadcast during the July sweep, topping ABC, CBS and FOX by double-digits: +38 percent (+200,000) more than ABC’s This Week, +37 percent (+197,000) more than CBS’s Face the Nation and +92 percent (+350,000) more than FOX News Sunday. This marked MTP’s best A25-54 July sweep delivery in two years (since 2018) and MTP’s best advantage over CBS in over two years (since February 2018 sweep). Compared to the prior July sweep, MTP was up by double-digits and grew +23 percent (+137,000).
MTP was also the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the month of July, marking its third straight month at #1 and dominating the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 12th consecutive month.
July marked MTP’s best monthly total viewer advantage over CBS in 11 months (since August 2019) and best monthly A25-54 viewers advantage over CBS in 18 months (since January 2019). Compared to last July, MTP was up by double-digits across the board and grew +21 percent (+554,000) in total viewers and +23 percent (+137,000) in A25-54 viewers.
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board.
