July 21, 2020 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board this past Sunday, July 19, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Sunday’s special edition broadcast on the Covid-19 pandemic featured interviews with NIH Director Francis Collins, Gov. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio), Gov. Jared Polis (D-Colo.), and Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.).
Note: CBS Face The Nation chose to retitle this past Sunday for the second week in a row.
MTP averaged 3.331 million total viewers and topped both ABC and CBS by double digits: +24 percent (+634,000) more than ABC’s This Week and +17 percent (+489,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This marks MTP’s best total viewer delivery in three weeks (since June 28, 2020) as well as MTP’s best advantage over ABC in three weeks (since June 28, 2020) and over CBS in 23 weeks (since February 9, 2020). Compared to last week, MTP was the only Sunday show to grow and was up five percent (+161,000).
MTP was also #1 in the demo most valued by news advertisers for its 21st consecutive week and again topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 757,000 A25-54 key demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +48 percent (+245,000) more than ABC’s This Week and +60 percent (+283,000) more than CBS’ Face the Nation. This marked MTP’s best A25-54 viewer delivery in three weeks (since June 28, 2020) as well as MTP’s best advantage over ABC in 12 weeks (since April 26, 2020) and over CBS in 18 weeks (since March 15, 2020). Compared to last week, MTP was the only Sunday show to grow and was up eight percent (+56,000).
An additional 839,000 total viewers and 124,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board.
MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, more than doubling the competition across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers in over five years (since March 22, 2015).
