March 31, 2020 – Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) was the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the first quarter of 2020 (1Q’20) and for this past Sunday’s special edition, according to Nielsen Media Research.

MTP won the first quarter of 2020 across the board, marking its ninth consecutive quarter at #1 and fourth straight year winning the first quarter across the board.

Averaging 3.592 million total viewers, MTP topped ABC’s This Week by +16 percent (+485,000) and CBS’ Face the Nation by three percent (+120,000). This marks MTP’s best total viewers advantage over ABC in three quarters (since 2Q’19) and the show’s best quarterly total viewers delivery since the first quarter of last year (1Q’19).

MTP also won in the demo most valued by news advertisers and topped both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 889,000 A25-54 viewers tuned in for the first quarter: +20 percent (+145,000) more than ABC and +20 percent (+150,000) more than CBS. This is MTP’s 17th consecutive quarter win in the key demo. This also marks MTP’s best quarterly demo delivery and best A25-54 quarterly win over ABC and CBS since the first quarter of last year (1Q’19).

This past Sunday’s special edition broadcast on the coronavirus pandemic featured interviews with former Vice President Joe Biden, Dr. Deborah Birx, Gov. John Bel Edwards (D-La.) and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.), and averaged 4.820 million total viewers. MTP topped ABC’s This Week by +16 percent (+668,000) and CBS’ Face the Nation by four percent (+179,000). Compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP was up +48 percent (+1.569 million).

MTP also won in the key demo this past Sunday and topped its competition by double-digits. 1.334 million A25-54 viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +23 percent (+251,000) more than ABC and +25 percent (+267,000) more than CBS. Compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP was up +74 percent (+568,000).

MTP was the only Sunday show to deliver over one million A25-54 viewers for the month of March. 1.127 million key demo viewers tuned in for the month, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits: +24 percent (+216,000) more than ABC and +16 percent (+156,000) more than CBS. March marks MTP’s eighth consecutive monthly win in the key demo.

An average of 4.173 million total viewers tuned into MTP in March: +17 percent (+610,000) more than ABC. This marks MTP’s best total viewer delivery in 38 months (since January 2017) and best total viewer monthly win over ABC in 11 months (since April 2019).

Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board. The network broadcast continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market, topping the competition combined across the board and winning every Sunday with total viewers in over five years (since March 22, 2015).

An additional 1.201 million total viewers and 268,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.
