“MEET THE PRESS WITH CHUCK TODD” WINS SUNDAY IN KEY DEMO; #1 IN DC FOR 5 STRAIGHT YEARS

Wins Every Sunday with Total Viewers in Washington for its Fifth Straight Year

Highest Total Viewership in Over 11 Years

Tops Competition by Double Digits in Key Demo

March 24, 2020 – This past Sunday’s special edition of Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (MTP) focusing on the coronavirus pandemic was the #1 most-watched Sunday show in the key demo, according to Nielsen Media Research. Sunday marked MTP’s highest total viewership in over 11 years (since December 7, 2008), as well as MTP winning every Sunday with total viewers in Washington for its fifth straight year (since March 22, 2015).

Season-to-date, MTP is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board.

Sunday’s broadcast featured interviews with FEMA Administrator Peter Gaynor, Gov. Larry Hogan (R-Md.), New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.). Note: The New York market had a partial preemption due to special report (rated for 33 minutes).

MTP won in the demo most valued by news advertisers, topping both ABC and CBS by double-digits. 1.366 million A25-54 key demo viewers tuned into the Sunday program: +16 percent (+190,000) more than ABC’s This Week and +11 percent (+140,000) more than CBS’s Face the Nation, which only rates for the first 30 minutes of its hour-long broadcast.

This marks MTP’s best A25-54 viewer delivery in over three years (since January 29, 2017). Compared to last Sunday, MTP was up +10 percent (+121,000) and compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP was up +49 percent (+452,000).

MTP was up across the board week over week and year over year; up by double digits across the board in the key demo.

Sunday’s show averaged 4.848 million total viewers, topping ABC’s This Week by double-digits: +14 percent (+604,000). Compared to last Sunday, MTP was up four percent (+191,000) and compared to the same Sunday last year, MTP was up +37 percent (+1.317 million).

MTP continues to dominate the influential Washington, D.C. market and outperformed competing public affairs shows combined in both total viewers and A25-54 viewers this past Sunday.

An additional 323,000 total viewers and 121,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through a rebroadcast on NBC.

Tune in to MSNBC’s MTP Daily weekdays at 5 p.m. for more from moderator Chuck Todd, and follow the broadcast on Facebook and on Twitter for the latest.
