Deals Already Made With Focus Features, Blumhouse Television, Peacock & Quibi

New York, January 23, 2020— NBC News launches NBC News Studios, a new unit that will produce premium documentaries, docuseries, select scripted programming, and content for emerging platforms, it was announced today by Noah Oppenheim, president of NBC News, and Liz Cole, president of NBC News Studios and Dateline Executive Producer.

The new studio brings to bear NBC News’ singular brand of journalism and its tremendous resources, including international newsgathering capabilities, vast archives and state-of-the-art production facilities. NBC News Studios projects will pair those resources with top filmmakers and other premier partners.
Initial partners include:

Focus Features: NBC News Studios will collaborate with Focus Features to produce documentaries about the most pivotal people and events of our time. Each filmmaker-driven documentary will tell a story that informs, inspires or investigates our world. Focus Features releases award-winning feature films and documentaries including the acclaimed Mister Roger’s documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor?.

• Blumhouse Television: Blumhouse Television and the Studio will partner to develop and produce original scripted programs based on the most compelling Dateline content. Blumhouse Television is the studio behind the critically acclaimed, award-winning series “The Jinx,” “Sharp Objects,” and “The Loudest Voice,” and documentary films How To Dance In Ohio, This is Home: A Refugee Story, and Bathtubs Over Broadway.

Peacock: For NBC Universal’s new streaming service, the Studio will produce a limited docuseries that exposes the untold story of one of America’s most notorious serial killers.

Quibi: The Studio will also house NBC News’ partnership with the premium made for mobile platform, Quibi, providing original signature daily news programs.
