Admiral James Stavridis joins NBC News and MSNBC

I’m pleased to share that retired Admiral James Stavridis will join NBC News and MSNBC as Chief International Security and Diplomacy Analyst, starting this week. As a thirty plus year veteran of the Navy, he will offer unique insight on national security and military strategy for “TODAY,” “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” “Meet the Press,” MSNBC and our digital properties.

Admiral Stavridis is currently the Dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and the Chairman of the Board of the US Naval Institute. He also is a member of the board of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Previously, Admiral Stavridis served as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander during which time he was responsible for operations in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, the Balkans and piracy monitoring off the coast of Africa. Over the course of his career in the Navy, he also served as a senior military assistant to the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of Defense.

A native of Florida, he graduated from the US Naval Academy and also earned a Masters of Arts In Law and Diplomacy and a PhD in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Admiral Stavridis is an outstanding addition to our unparalleled roster of contributors and will be an incredible asset for our two networks as we continue to cover issues of national security.

Please join me in welcoming Admiral Stavridis.

Janelle
