The NBC News Broadcast Delivers Biggest Total Viewer Advantage over ABC in 10 Weeks
Nightly News Posts Biggest Demo Win over ABC since January 25, 2016
NEW YORK (July 6, 2016) – “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt” ranked #1 across the board for the week of June 27, averaging 7.8 million total viewers, outperforming “ABC World News Tonight” by +291,000 (+4%) and “CBS Evening News” by +1.337 million (+21%). On Monday evening, Nightly News delivered its biggest single-day audience since May 16, with 8.5 million total viewers.
Nightly News won every evening across the board last week and posted the biggest total viewer growth among the evening newscasts, week over week (+108,000). This was Nightly News’s biggest total viewer advantage over ABC in 10 weeks (since the week of April 18, 2016). On Thursday, Nightly News led ABC by +463,000 total viewers for its widest single-day margin of victory since May 10, 2016.
Nightly News posted its widest demo advantage over ABC since the week of January 25, 2016, averaging 1.9 million A25-54 viewers, outperforming ABC by +350,000 (+23%) and CBS by +358,000 (+23%). On Friday evening, Nightly News led ABC by +475,000 A25-54 viewers, its biggest single-day demo lead since January 25, 2016.
Season to date, Nightly News is the #1 evening news program in total viewers, A25-54 and A18-49 viewers. Nightly News has ranked #1 in A25-54 and A18-49 for 48 of the past 49 weeks.
