“NBC NIGHTLY NEWS” IS #1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK

MAY 12, 2015 — “NBC Nightly News” was America’s most-watched evening newscast for the week of May 4-8, 2015, according to Nielsen Media Research data.  The NBC broadcast delivered its biggest total viewer margin over ABC in six weeks and narrowed the demo gap for the second straight week.

Season-to-date, Nightly is the #1 evening news broadcast in total viewers and all key demographics.

Weekly Highlights:

  • Nightly averaged 7.569 million total viewers, +101,000 (+1%) more than ABC World News Tonight and +1.034 million (+16%) ahead of CBS Evening News.
  • Nightly averaged 1.732 million A25-54 viewers, leading CBS by +20% (+294,000).
  • Nightly narrowed the demo gap with ABC for the second straight week, coming within 41,000 viewers (compared to -130,000 the prior week).
  • Nightly delivered a 1.5 A25-54 rating, tied for #1 with ABC and +3 tenths more than CBS.

Season-to-Date Highlights:

  • Nightly is averaging 9.025 million total viewers, +411,000 more than ABC and +1.782 million more than CBS.
  • Nightly is averaging 2.139 million A25-54 viewers, +3,000 more than ABC and +428,000 more than CBS.
  • Nightly is averaging 1.534 million A18-49 viewers, +95,000 more than ABC and +381,000 more than CBS.
