Williams Joined by Andrea Mitchell and Gabe Gutierrez as U.S. Delegation Begins Negotiations

JANUARY 21, 2015 — Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News,” will anchor tonight’s broadcast from Havana, Cuba, as the highest-level U.S. delegation to Cuba in 35 years arrives to begin talks aimed at restoring diplomatic and economic ties with the Communist country. Williams will be joined in Havana by NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell and NBC News correspondent Gabe Gutierrez.

Williams last anchored from Havana in September 2006, when world leaders gathered in Cuba for the Non-Aligned Movement summit.  Read his account from that journey here: http://on.msnbc.com/1CPU7au

Mitchell has closely covered the complex U.S.-Cuban relationship for decades.  Her extensive reports include unprecedented access and a series of exclusive interviews over the years with Cuban President Fidel Castro. Gutierrez has been reporting from Miami and Havana for several days ahead of these diplomatic meetings.
